Keep Up With News Straight From the Driver Himself
I’d like to begin by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I want to take this opportunity to say a few things I’m thankful for (it’ll be quick, I promise): my parents and family and their tremendous support of everything that I do, not just racing; the incredibly talented crew that’s behind me; and finally, I’m thankful that I’m healthy enough to be able to pursue the opportunities and passions that I have in life.
On to other things…
As you may (or may not) have heard, NASCAR has imposed a moratorium on testing not only in the Cup Series, but here in the NASCAR Camping World Series East as well. That’s a big deal. It’s going to hurt us a lot, but it WILL save us money. Looking at the big picture, NASCAR had to do something. Everyone – from the blue collar worker to the big executives in corporate America – is having to cut back. It only makes sense that we do it here in our sport and in this series. I’m just glad that we have one year under our belts. It’ll be tough for the rookies that are coming in.
With that said – I think it’s more important for this team to get a Late Model or Pro Stock instead of going to the Toyota All Star Showdown. We’re definitely moving in that direction and I plan to race it at places like South Boston and Greenville weekends prior to the NASCAR Camping World Series East races. It’s all about seat time, and this will give me the opportunity to get some of that.
I hate to disappoint the fans that were expecting to see us out in California, but this team is looking at the big picture. You can catch us in New Smyrna and cheer us on!
The banquet is up next and I’ll be attending along with my parents, also known as my car owners! We’re interested to see how the Most Popular Driver voting went. I have to admit, my brother Garret was my biggest supporter. He went on to the NASCAR site every day and voted for me. You can’t get much better than that! It’s nice when a member of your family is your biggest fan. I hope that, in his eyes, I’m that supportive of his own race career, which has gotten off to a great start! Thanks Garret!
That’s it for this week. For now, life has been a little hectic with school and the race shop, but we’ll be back in here in two weeks with another update! Thanks for reading!
