I was looking over the internet a couple of days ago, and found out there aren’t many new things coming out of the media or websites as far as the NASCAR Camping World Series East goes these days. We’ve only been on hiatus for a couple of weeks now so I was a little bit surprised. I went to my favorite hotspots – Eastseries.com, Neracing.com, – and quickly noticed I was just going over things I had already read. Nothing against them – if people aren’t putting out the news then there isn’t a whole lot they can do. Then I took a look at my own site and decided, I too, need to keep things fresh.
Twice a month, beginning with this entry, I’m going to update the site with a new blog entry. I’ll let you know what’s going on at Delaney Motorsports – now and in the future. To kick it off, I decided to let you know where we stand on the Toyota All-Star Showdown.
To go or not to go?
We haven’t really decided what we’re going to do yet. I know, not the kind of enlightening news you thought you’d get, but there’s a lot to weigh when making the decision to go all the way across the country for a race you’re not even guaranteed to get into. We’re still kicking it around a bit, but we’re also throwing around the idea of getting a Late Model and heading for New Smyrna.
I can get a lot more seat time running a week’s worth of races in Florida then I can running a couple of nights in California. Seat time is everything in this business and
getting more of it is very appealing to me. I’ve only been driving on asphalt a year now so I want to get behind the wheel every chance I can get. I can do this with testing, but its not as good as being in actual race conditions. Besides that, I think it’ll be a lot of fun.
But there are benefits to going to California too. I can race in front of a live, national audience and I hear Irwindale Speedway has an impressive facility! There’s no doubt that just getting into the field is an honor and racing against the best of the best is tempting. More experience in these cars wouldn’t hurt at all either.
It’s a tough decision to make. Both of these choices have their positives and negatives. I wish I could be more clear for you, but like I said, we’re still putting a lot of thought into what we’re going to do. When I know, I’ll let you know.
At the shop
Although it is the offseason, I’ve been busier than ever! I’m going to college and working at the raceshop when I can. The guys are busy making new templates and rebuilding our pit boxes. We haven’t been working on the cars just yet, but the guys will be after that real soon. We have a few months to really take our time and make sure everything is just right so we’re starting from the bottom and working our way up.
Well, that’s it for now. Next time, we’ll touch upon our final decision as far as the off-season racing we’ll have for you and I’ll talk a little bit about some of my memorable moments from the season. Thanks for reading.
