Community, Charity, Looking Back at SoBo and Ahead to The Glen
Community… It seems that this word continues to pop up, and it is very important, so I figured that I would talk to everyone about something that I did last week that I feel was for a worthy cause….I got arrested!! The MDA of the Capital Region arrested members of the community, and had them collect donations as bail money. I was able to raise $300 for the people in our community who really need help. Overall, the entire fundraiser took in over $50,000. Thank you to everyone who helped me get out jail, and to everyone who donated in general. This is a great cause, and I was honored to be a part of it.
I will also be participating in two golf tournaments next weekend (since we do not have a race). These will also help to raise money for local charities. Since golfing is one of my favorite past times, it turns out to be a win-win situation.
We raced in South Boston over the weekend, and that turned out pretty good. We took home another top-10, but accomplished something that was much greater that day as well. I was the fastest car in practice all day. That was the first time that I had ever been atop the leader board in this series, making it pretty exciting. We had a great car, and the team worked really hard, so we are counting this past race as a success!
Watkins Glen is this weekend, and the guys and I are working hard at getting the car ready for what I hope to be another great run. I really enjoy going to The Glen as it is only about four hours from home, and it is a really neat road course, and it will be a nice change of pace from the oval tracks. Just a side note for anyone that is going, I will be holding an autograph session in the afternoon after the race. I am not sure of the exact details, but I believe it will be in turn 11 around 1:30 PM. If you are going to be at the race, make sure to stop over and say hello!
After Watkins Glen I have a little break, I will be heading to a few of my Brother Garret’s races, back to the good ole days of dirt track racing and washing tires. A few rounds of golf and some fishing will round out the break, and then I am heading to Loudon. Talk to you soon.
