Delaney Savors Home Track Advantage
Pre-Race Report
When the NASCAR Camping World Series East descends onto Adirondack International Speedway this Saturday night, Mayfield, New York resident Dustin Delaney will be savoring his home track advantage. Delaney, who enters the weekend seventh in the points standings, hopes that support from the home state crowd and the familiar track will help him guide his No. 39 Delaney Infrastructure Chevrolet to victory lane.
“We're coming in on a high note, being in our own backyard,” said Delaney. “We had a car good enough to finish in the top-five here last year, but got caught up in some stuff at the end of the race. We are expecting to run up front this year.”
Delaney, now in his sophomore year in the Camping World East, has posted three top-10 finishes thusfar. He’s hoping a breakout top-five will come close to home. Since running at
Adirondack last year, Delaney has gained some valuable confidence behind the wheel.
“We’ve had some solid runs and I definitely feel more comfortable in the car,” he said. “I’ve got a great team behind me and our learning curve is behind us. We want to step up and battle for this championship. We’re not out of it by any means.”
Delaney is currently 182 points out of the point lead with four races remaining to the season. A win at Adirondack International Speedway could put him within striking distance of the series title.
“There’s a lot of tough competition out there, but right now, the championship is still anybody’s game. We’re in there and we’d like to close the gap a little bit this weekend. We’re certainly going to be trying to do that. A win would really help.”
The Eighth Annual Edge Hotel 150 at Adirondack International Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st.
